Luton Town FC Partnership

Developing a quality youth football programme is about helping our children fulfil their potential as footballers.  We recognise that in order to deliver such a programme our most talented players, and our coaches, need to receive additional training from top professional coaches.  We have therefore entered into a partnership with Luton Town FC to maximise the opportunities available to both our players and coaches.

Why Luton Town FC?

Luton Town FC (“LTFC”) has an enviable reputation in producing elite footballers.  In November 2010, the club’s youth system ranked fifth behind Manchester United, West Ham, Manchester City and Everton in producing current English Premier League players.

They operate a number of regional development centres, one of which is located in Harpenden, and are committed to improving the standards of local youth football.

How will the relationship work in practice for our players?

Each season:

  • The Under 7s will receive up to 50 free tickets to watch a LTFC home game and have a team photograph taken on the pitch at half time (potentially with information about our club appearing in the match day programme);
  • The Under 7s and Under 8s will have friendly fixtures arranged against LTFC (with any others arranged on an ad hoc basis);
  • The Under 8s will benefit from a training session provided by LTFC coaches;
  • LTFC may invite our players to additional training, any approach being made via the team coach and our Club Chairman; and
  • LTFC will match any offer of additional training received from another professional club.

How will the relationship work in practice for our coaches?

Each season:

  • LTFC will provide one coach education training session exclusively for our coaches, who will also be invited to attend other coach education training sessions run by LTFC;
  • LTFC will provide access to some training materials;
  • Players invited to additional training will generally remain available to us during the season;
  • LTFC will provide feedback on the progress of our players and an understanding of their youth development programme to help us advise parents and discharge our duty of care;
  • LTFC may provide some further opportunities for suitable young coaches; and
  • LTFC will provide access to their media resources to advertise for players and volunteers.
