Why Join Wheathampstead Wanderers?

We believe that we have the best Youth & Adult offering in the area, for the following reasons

  • Inclusivity & Diversity

    • We accept all players regardless of ability. Within the resources available, our Club is open to all from U6 upward who want to register and play football
    • Our size allows us to place children in teams and groups which are most appropriate to their enjoyment
    • All our players will play a minimum of half-a-game on matchday (league rules stipulate 15 minutes)
  • Safety & Standards

    • All our coaches are CRB checked, and Emergency Aid trained
    • All our players and parents sign up to our Codes Of Conduct at registration
    • We nurture an environment based on mutual respect, a sense of fair play and good sportsmanship
  • Commitment to Development

    • We believe we have a unique and exceptional development offerering. Our Mini-Soccer Awards have been developed by experienced coaches and aligned to FA Guidelines. Have a look under 'Player Development' for more information
    • We offer specialised Goalkeeper Training, run by James Russel from the Chelsea Academy & Just4Keepers
    • We support all our players to widen their interests and use their football knowledge, for example
      • Our U15 Goalkeeper has become Level 1 Qualified and now assists Goalkeeper Training in the village
      • In recent years, 12 of our youth players have qualified as referees, many with their course fees funded by the club
  • Quality Coaching

    • All our teams have at least 1 FA Qualified Coach
    • Our tight-knit community and formalised programs allow our coaches to share learning and experience across all age groups
  • Value For Money

    • We believe our subs are among the most competitive you will find in the area. The annual membership fee is fully inclusive of
      • Kit
      • Training Fees (incl. midweek training for teams who play weekend league matches)
      • Match Fees
      • End of season awards, trophies etc
  • Community

    • We foster close ties with the local community through the Parish Council and Local Schools
    • We partner with Keech Hospice Care through our unique charity contribution scheme
  • Football For Life

    • We're not just a youth football club, we can offer football from U6s right through to Adult teams. One of our proudest achievements in recent years is that our First Team adult squad who were WFL Division 2 champions in 2010/11 contained 7 players who have been at Wanderers since U6s
    • Kids love playing at Wheathampstead!  Our U16 Cup Winning squad last year contained 9 players who have been with us since U6s
  • FA Charter Standard

    • The Charter Standard mark is your guarantee that our club is well run, sustainable, with child protection and player safety paramount. It also recognises the clubs commitment to coaching, player and coach development and raising the standards of behaviour in the the game
