WWFC U12 Vs Austen Arrowheads

Today we faced a new challenge in the Austen Arrowheads a new team in the MHRML. Prior to the game we were told that they had beaten Bengeo the previous week so clearly Austen are a decent outfit. After last weekends disappointing performance the boys were told quite clearly that a repeat would be unacceptable especially against a quality opposition. They didnt disappoint!. From the off we pushed Austen back with Dylan at CF causing mayhem with his industrious hard work and Little Messi (Dan) back to his best. Ben and Oli at the back had to be on their toes against a good counter attacking team who played football and did not just hoof the ball forward and Alf , back in goal, was his usual sweeper keeper self. Chances came and went with Dylan Calum and Dan going close and Charlie having one chalked off for offside. The Arrowheads were a good challenge and were causing problems of their own.
 H-T 0-0
The second half started much like the first with much Shark pressure with Dan being a constant menace to the Arrowheads defence. Eventually a deserved Shark goal from Calum came however a lapse in concentration soon after let in Austen to level the score. Back came the boys and we regained the lead with a great strike from Calum for his second!. The last 10 minute saw Austen show us that they are a good team and applied much pressure without really creating any chances it must be said.
Final score 2-1 to the Sharks and a much improved performance against a quality team.
Austen Arrowheads....excellent team, nice coaches, nice parents and a good lineswoman!!
