Bury Rangers Reds Vs U 11 Sharks

On a fine day in Hertford the 2013/14 season got under way with the new and improved
Sharks which now included Matty, Alfie, Calum and Dan.
Todays opposition were Bury Rangers Reds and our first thoughts were how big the
pitch was.  To our "untrained" eyes it appeared to be a full size pitch with a couple of
9 a side goals at either end!.
This said , it was a very fine game of football played by both teams. Bury started the
brighter and Alfie ,in goal , had to be alert to a quick break and forced a Bury player
wide when through on goal. The Sharks came into the game more as the half progressed
and were creating some good chances of their own and were rewarded when a persistant
Kai won the ball off a Bury defender and crossed for Josh to calmly slot the ball home.
The Sharks continued to play some good football and nearly went further ahead when Kai,
clean through, sent a ball just wide of the post. Bury were playing their part, always neat and
tidy, although not troubling Alfie a great deal.
  H-T  0-1
The second half started much of the same and Dan found himself with the goal at his mercy
however his shot went just wide. However , like last week at the Flitwick Tournament, the boys
passing game fell away letting Bury back into the game and only a combination of good goalkeeping,
last gasp defending and erratic finishing kept the score at 0-1 until Bury equalized and it must be
said it wasn't against the run of the play. With 5 minutes to play could the Sharks hang on for a draw
or even plunder a win on the break ?. The answer was the former , although Bury nearly snatched a
winner at the death but all in all a very good game of football, definitely a game of 2 halves and a fair
result and I would expect both teams to be dominant in this division.
Well played both teams and to the referee, the linesman and both sets of parents.
