A fine late summers day for this County Cup game . Abbots Youth play in the WFL so it was our first sighting of them .The game started fairly evenly with both teams looking to settle and get the ball down . Wheato looking to get Jonny and Olly P free on every occasion down the wings . There were few chances early on but as the game progressed Abbots started to see more of the ball . A break down the ight and the ball found its way into our box and unable to clear they opened the scoring from close range. 0-1 . We looked to get back at them but we were up against a strong team - both physically and technically , we made afew breaks and our best chances were coming from a couple of excellent whipped in crosses but we were just unable to get on the end of them - one very close to Georges head and Marks Harvies first tenner of the season !!!- Another break through the middle by AY and again we were unable to clear our lines and they pounced first to score - 0-2 . From then on we really started to press them , close them down and created afew good chances - Jonny had a great chance just going over - HT0-2.
Second half we played some much better football but were unable to penetrate a very good defence and a very commanding keeper . Similar to the first half , they scored their final goal after we could not clear the ball out of our box. But as ever with the Sharks they never let their heads drop and kept battling till the end . FS 0-3
So no more County Cup but we can focus on the League !!! AY were a very strong team across the park and will probably be as good a team as we play this season . We kept battling and there were some good performances out there - especially second half and some good moves - that their coach also commented on - Look forward to King George Vipers , who we know well, next week .
