After a week off back on the road again and this time to our old mates - WP - We last played them two years ago , and I remember them being a good footballing team
We had a full squad !!! and started the game well getting some passed strung together and looking good and really up for it - Of course as soon as I said that we went behind !!! But , and totally deserved , we drew level when the increasingly dangerous Andrew Shaw finished very coolly after a good passing move - we were pressing them well and despite a couple of scares were looking comfortable . Then a cleared ball cannoned off a player and landed at the foot of a WP in our box - Offside - possibly but not given and we went 2-1 behind .... But we kept playing the good possesion football we had throughout the half and when a goalbound shot was stopped by a hand - we were awarded a penalty . Up stepped Jonny Moore but he put it just wide - A very strong first half performance against a strong team and we were only just behind and could easily have been level at the break .
Second half we started abit more slowly and 2 or 3 WP players seemed to really influencing the play . A sot from edge of the box couldnt be held and they went 3-1 up . They quickly added a 4th and then we started to play again !!! abit of a slower 10-15 minutes where we were not pressing as much allowed them more space and they punished us
We were creating some good chances - as always and then the moment we have been waiting for - A HEADED GOAL by Andrew Shaw ( Mark Harvie had offered 10 Scottish Pounds last year to the first headed goal - and Master Shaw was Andrew on the spot - Well done a Brace and a TENNER - Good work !!
Final score 6-2 but we need to take heart in a strong team performance for 50 minutes. The division is beginning ti divide into 2 with 5 teams ( strongest) at top and the other 6 ... We are beginning to play some good football but against stronger teams you get punished more readily .
Well done today as all we could all see some very good football on show - and on another day if we had gone into break at 2-2 you never know
Well done to Andrew Shaw for two goals and everyone for a good team performance !!!
MoM - Jonny Moore - never stopped running !!!!
