U10 Sharks - away to Ware Youth Clarets

Teamsheet: Rukh, Harry, Joe, Sebastien (C), Ollie, Will, Ben, Noah, Owen

After a well observed minutes silence (in tribute to one of Panshanger’s coaches, who sadly passed away last week), the boys got off to a good start, knocking the ball around confidently. Ware looked a good side and the opening period saw some impressive passing interchanges, with both sides carving out openings. Joe was clearly in the mood and burst into the opposition box only to see his shot come back off the upright, and soon after Ollie smacked a shot against the other post. Ware then hit the woodwork themselves as the game moved from end to end. Some neat passes from Sharks’ midfield began to help build our attacking momentum, and the deadlock was finally broken when a short corner found Will with plenty of time to tee up a perfect cross that Noah met well with a glancing header.

The second half was as eventful as the first, but Sharks looked solid at the back with Harry in commanding form, and Sebastien and Owen getting up and down the pitch well to support attack and defence. Things got easier when Joe was given too much time and space in midfield which he used to punish the opposition with a cracking long range strike. Ware were down but not out and they mounted a series of attacks to try and get back in the game, hitting the woodwork on 4 occasions, whilst also being denied by Rukh, who somehow managed to stretch out a hand and claw away what looked a certain goal. With Ware throwing players forward, the Sharks were able to break quickly and finished the game strongly with a series of attacks that eventually culminated in Ben opening his season account with a dipping long range effort.  All in all an entertaining game, with two teams playing some great football.

Parents’ man of the match: Rukh
