Due to the waterlogged pitches todays game was switched as a Pegasus home match.
With a full squad to choose from the match started with Welwyn enjoying some pressue
although Ben had little to do. However, our bad habit of ball watching in and around our
own penalty area let a Pegasus player in for a shot that just went wide. Ben also made
a fine save from a corner and was quick and brave to save at a Welwyn forwards feet.
Slowly the Sharks started to gain a foothold into the game with Ollie and Jack linking
well on the left and Joshua a constant thorn in the hosts defence. Cian was now working
hard down the right and we started to gain the upper hand with some good chances being
created. Alfie was called into action to make a couple of vital interceptions and before long
Charlie was introduced to add some craft and guile whilst Jamie slotted into his customary
position. Theo , working very hard, broke the deadlock with a shot from the edge of the area
and the game swung backwards and forwards as the two swashbuckling teams traded blows.
The second half began with good play from both teams however Theo scored his second with
a goal similar to his first. The Royals are not a team that lies down tho and they kept plugging
away and causing problems for us and coupled with a bit of complacancy scored a goal of their
own with a good finish Ben could do nothing about. Welwyn now had the bit between their teeth
and had several more chances however Josh hit the post , Cian had an effort cleared off the line
and the Royals keeper saved bravely at our strikers feet. Final whistle and a great game of
football. MOM and 2 goals for Theo!
