The Under 10 Sharks headed into unchartered territory with a first ever
encounter against Barnet Azzuri. With Ollie unavailable and Harry still
injured the Sharks began with Adam in goal, Ben and Jamie at the back
whilst Cian Jack and Charlie started in MF with Kai upfront and Josh
eagerly waiting his introduction from the bench. As the game kicked off
it was quite clear the gulf in individual class and in team play in general.
Whilst the Sharks are confident with the ball anywhere on the pitch and attempt
to move it forward through the thirds Barnet seemed to be happy to have
a defence and an attack and just boom it forward in the hope that a couple
of their decent players may do something. The first half was generally a one
sided affair with much Shark pressure which resulted in a well taken goal by
Cian. There were several other chances created with Josh Cian Kai and Charlie
all going close. Barnet broke away  a couple of times but Adam rarely had to
get off of his deck chair. H-T 1-0 to the Sharks.
The second half for the first 10-15 minutes was a more even affair and Barnet
had some possession but rarely created anything worthwhile other than a
couple of industrial type challenges on Kai and Charlie coupled with some
colourful language from the same player. Kai responded to this attention by
scoring twice which is the best way to respond and although Barnet pulled a
goal back near the end there was still time for Josh to make it 4 following a
good pass from Cian. Final score 4-1 to the Sharks and a footballing lesson
dished out from our boys. Well done to all ! !
