A great start to the new season for the Sharks winning their first league game for nearly 2 years having dropped down to the Green Division of the Watford Friendly League.

The first goal was scored in the opening minute of the game by Gabes taking advantage of some confusion in the Northwood defence and this set the tone for the remainder of the half. 10 minutes later it became 2-0 when Gabes picked up the ball on the left side of the box and drove towards the goal hitting a low shot into the net at the near post.

The Sharks were playing some good football with some excellent link up play and spreading the ball across the pitch. Aykan was controlling the defensive line and linking well with the rest of the defence and midfield. Northwood were struggling to keep up and it was only a matter of time before the third went in, this time from Harry.

Gabes got his hat-trick before half time with a neat one-two with Harry setting him clear of the last defender before unleashing his shot well past the keeper.

Half time saw the Sharks leading 6-0 with Max at the other end having had his easiest half for a long time. Harry too had reached 3 goals.

All of the team were working hard and this began to show in the second half with tiredness affecting a number of the players on both sides. The interplay from the first half was not as evident and when the score reached 8-0 with Billy getting in on the scoring act, the shape faded and players were given different positions to have a go at.

Northwood got their consolation when the Sharks defence misjudged a high ball into the box that was affected by the wind leaving their striker to give Max no chance. However, the job was well done by then. Final score 8-1 and something to look forward to for all involved.

MoM – Gabes for scoring 4
