Well it is a well work cliche - especially in Football - but it really is a 'Funny old game' and so it proved on a very unseasonal Novembers morning!!

Having played the unbeaten Risden afew weeks before we all knew this was going to be 'a testing encounter'
We welcomed new signing - Robbie Hamblin and were able to draw on  14 players !!!for the first time this season !!

The game started well for Sharks and we were getting the ball down in the middle and looking to find the wide men in James and Jonny . Several times we got in behind their defence only for the ball to fizz across the box without anyone on the end of it !!

Alas - our achilles heel - this season - was exposed ,where we look so good going foward when we get hit on the break we just do not close down and track back . Allowing a team like Risden time on the ball , on the edge of the box is asking for trouble and sure enough we were hit with two quick goals .

But we kept on battling and playing some of the best attacking football of the season - really causing problems for Risden but the ball really did not break for us ( I will never make excuses !!! - but today we were just so unlucky ) and as it would follow Risden hit us twice more before the break - We could ( and maybe should have had 3 or 4 goals ourselves easliy in the first half but amazingly we found ourselves 4-0 down!!
We made afew changes with Cam coming into the back with Nicolai and Olly P and Andrew up front
At 4-0 it would be easy for the team to let their heads drop but no - and they took the game to Risden - nothin to lose maybe but we started playing the ball about and creating some great chances
At the back we were looking alot more solid as well and our goal was to 'win the second half ' at least !!!
We got a goal back after a nice move and good finish from james on the edge of the box
We kept pressing and came close again afew times - the ball was bouncing around their box but just did not fall to us .
A  fantastic bit of skill from Jonny saw him into the box and hit a sweet shot going into the top corner - but their keeper , who is a very good shotstopper pulled off a great save - great football
We were pushing for a second and on a breakaway we just allowed them to get through and they scored a fifth .
But , we were not down and we still had time to make a couple more chances
So football is a funny game and stats and scores can hide alot - As with all our games we look to progress as a team - especially this season - ( being so new) I think our football - attacking wise in the first half and overall in the second was strangely enough as good as it has been for some time - We may have found a good defensive duo at the Centre of defense and allowing olly B to move into the middle gives us more options
The wide men James and Jonny caused them problems repeatedly and if we can play with the same approach week in week out we will win more games than we lose - This is a tough league and we have some tough games in the next few weeks but pleasing to see the boys beginning to play together as a team
Well done and we did not get down - even though - we certainly did not get the rub of the green -
Score 1-5
