This was a tough game against a well organised and strong side. However, we start off really well with some good football in the first 5 minutes. A ball won in midfield was played down the line by Tom carter to James Aspland. James went past his full back and crossed where Ciaran slid in to score. However, after that we allowed Hoddesden back into the game. We did not really tackle and got drawn out of position in a number of areas. Joe called clearly to tidy up at the back and pulled off one excellent save to tip the ball round the post. We still played well in possession but once it was lost we were very laboured in trying to win it back. We then gave a goal away when a ball was allowed to bounce. Greg missed the first tackle and Jack missed the second as their winger cut infield and fired a low left foot shot past Joe. Before half time we went ahead again. A corner from the left was met by Will in the middle who jumped and headed with perfection to score his third in two games.
The second half was alot better apart from a short spell in the middle. Joe had one good shot following up a pull back from Josh after some good work on the right. Tom Porter had another shot blocked. Ollie went through and chipped over the keeper but the ball was cleared. James A was unlucky to be caught off side before playing another great cross across the face of the goal. Jack made one excellent tackle in the six yard box and Joe made another fine save. free kick from Ciaran went over the bar and their keeper punched clear another good cross. As we began to get on top Josh made the game safe, controlling the ball in the penalty box and showing great composure to step inside and slot home.
man of the match - Joe Dobbs.
